Saturday, Aug 8 - Great American Raft-Up with Live Band

This is it. Talked about from Seattle to Cabo. The party of the year on-the-water. We have asked for a permit for 15 boats. This is South Shore's Outdoor Party of the Year. A raft-up with a live band - The Fabulous Nomads and Scotty Porter. Don't miss this event. It is also part of a membership drive so we expect to see some new faces joining the fun. If you don't have a boat call for a dingy ride out. The 15th Street pier (Balboa Ave and 15th is close by) Call Scott at 714-815-8557, or call the club number 949-646-3102 and try extension 3.
We expect some great American Sailing Activities - Perhaps a we bit of drink, perhaps a few sparsely clad ladies, perhaps a bit of dancing, did I mention a bit of drink? and then there’s always the topless set . .

Here's the video from the event:

Hold On ... I was just told by the wonderful 6 ladies who are in charge of the event, that this is also a family event. There will be games for kids and adults, a raffle/drawing, "dissert auction" and much more ... so bring the kids and grandkids too....

Please let us know if you will be coming, we will need to know how many boats to expect.
See ya . . .. . . .

Crazy Conga Party (and Ensenada Tune Up Party)

Friday Night, April 3, is our annual big Latin bash with a band or DJ. Its also the send Off Party for the Ensenada Tune Up Race the next day. So come down on Friday night, April 3, and dance dance dance. Some say is our big bash of the year.

The next day is the annual Ensenada Tune Up race to Dana Point. Call now to reserve a slip at the Dana Point Harbor Guest Slips, or at no cost, at Dana Point Yacht Club. Day Sail and Raft Up Party

Saturday, February 28, is our first "Day Sail" and raft-up party. In the morning we will gather at the downstairs clubhouse for a breakfast snack and appropriate drinks, where people will be assigned to boats. We will leave the Harbor at 11:00 a.m. for a day sail. I expect a few boats may create an ad hoc mini keep-your-own-time mini-race. The race "rules" will be discussed in the morning and anounced on Channel 68 at 11:00 am and 11:30 am, if you miss the morning meeting (or just call Scott or Steve on their cell phones. If you don't want to do the fun race, there will be a how-slow-can-you-go day cruise contest.

Between at 3:00 p.m. we will raft up at the Lido anchorage for an afternoon party. If you're not taking your boat, come on one of the others, or just make your way out to the raft-up. If you need a dinghy ride out just come on down and call Scott (714) 815-8557 or Steve (714)403-7753. See ya . . .

Adventure Travel Dinner

Friday, Feb 13, is our next “Second Friday,” dinner. Our Exotic Adventure Travel group has invited Mark Wakemen to talk about boat charters in Tahiti, Tonga, and Coatia. I expect he will show some of his slides and talk about his affiliation with charter companies around the world. Mark is president of maritimemarketinginc.com (see his website, it’s cool). They are located right here on Balboa Island. We will also ask each of you for your suggestions about possible inexpensive local travel adventure, such as a houseboat cruise through the California Delta or around lake Powell, river rafting down California’s American River, or day sailing charters on San Francisco Bay. The evening should be great fun. Don’t miss this dinner. See ya there . . .
