NEWS & EVENTS

This year we will have two parties to choose from. Come to one or both:

Next up, opening day of the world famous Christmas Boat Parade with runs right past our private VIP room, Wednesday, December 16, and again on Saturday, December 19. The Parade passes by about 7:10 pm. Open to our club members and those who have turned in a membership application - Call for details. 949-646-3201 - ext 1 or ext 3. Please bring an unwrapped gift for a child having a value of $15 or more to be donated to kids in need. We will have a tree in our room. If you can bring a decoration for the tree, preferably home made, that would be great. We will have extra keys to our private VIP club room for all regular members, so be sure to ask for your key.

Note parking will not be available in the club lot and will be limited in the area so come early or park at Newport Tennis Club and take the shuttle bus that goes right to the club. There may also be a lot just south of the club that will have paid parking. Again call for more info: 949-646-3201 - ext 1 or ext 3.

Also note: before the boat parade party, at the Saturday Party (December 19), at 5:30 p.m. the Italy Cruise Planning Group will meet. If you have any interest in a possible sailboat charter in Italy sometime in July, please come to this meeting or call Scott asap. At the meeting we will talk about dates and places to go. Our friend and guide, Fabrizzo, who is from Rome and who has charted boat in Italy the last two summers, will be there to explain all our options.

Remember, there are two parties. One on the opening day, Dec 16 and also one on Saturday, December 19. Also of note is the Board of Directors would like to proceed with the commissioning of a bronze plague identifying South Shore Yacht Club at the entrance to our building that we share with Newport Beach Yacht Club. A proposal was presented to give South Shore Yacht Club members an opportunity to participate in this project that would likely be a Legacy Event of historical significance for our Yacht Club. The required investment for the SSYC bronze plague is approximately $750. If the contributions of our members average $25 or more, we would hopefully have the plague manufactured and installed in time for the Commodore’s Ball. We encourage all members to contribute towards the purchase of our beautiful bronze plague by sending a check to South Shore Yacht Club and writing the word “Plague” on the note line of the check”. You can mail checks to the same address that you send your dues, or drop off a cheque at the party.
