Recent events in the Club point to us having a great year. At our March Second Friday Dinner we had a great turnout and we did several things to enhance the membership experience. First off we handed out keys to the new clubhouse. This gives members the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful new facility at their leisure. If you did not attend the dinner and would like a key just call me and we will arrange to get you one. Although all members can use the new clubhouse, keys are only available to all Regular (full dues) Members.
Secondly, we had the attending members fill out a member profile form. We will be using this info to fill in the “blanks” in our web base membership list. Many members have not updated their info yet and so we will be doing it for them. This info is very important as we use it to make sure our members are contacted with all the upcoming events and we need data to include in the Sheets like birthdays and anniversaries.
Lastly, we presented applications for South Shore members to establish a charge account at Newport Beach Yacht Club. This charge account will allow you to make purchases at the club in the bar and restaurant without showing your credit card. There is a minimum monthly purchase of just $25 for this type of account. You can charge all your drinks and meals (excluding our Friday Dinners) and at the end of the month they charge the credit card that you have on file with them. What could be easier?
Our Shoreline Cruise was a great success this year. We had 35 people attend the dinner with 11 boats sailing up to Long Beach. This was twice as many as attended two years ago. Read more about this fun event in the Cruising Section.
This month we also held our first Movie Night at the club. This was a lot of fun and the premier movie was Captain Ron a sailing classic (not) but is a great watch. Be sure to attend this month’s movie night scheduled for Tuesday the 21st. What other theatre will serve you alcohol and popcorn?
We now have a presence on FaceBook as Scott has setup a group for us called as you might guess, South Shore Yacht Club, isn’t he cleaver? If you haven’t signed up for an account on FaceBook yet don’t worry, it’s easy to do and it’s free. This is a great way for us to keep in touch and you will impress your kids!
March proved to be a great month and April looks to be even better! Spring is here and the sun is out. Its time for sailing and having some fun with your South Shore friends. Keep your dreams afloat.
